My name is Kyle and I work for Mercedes Enthusiast magazine. I
believe you are aware that Sam Bailey of Midlands Classic Mercedes has given
me your email address so I can ask you a few questions about your experience
of hiring a classic Mercedes from them?
I'll put the questions in bullet point form so they are easier to answer, if
that's ok. So, let's get started...
1) I understand you actually own a few three-pointed stars, so why did you
hire another one out? Did you want an extended test drive before buying
another, or were you simply out to get the experience of driving one?
A: Started out as the latter and finished as the former! Originally just part of an romantic pre Christmas weekend and quoting an old advert --' I liked it so much I just had to go out and buy the company (or just the car) myself.'
2) Which model did you hire and what did you like about it?
A: Model R107 380 SL, as to what we liked about it....where do we start! Classic style, the Dallas lifestyle, a pleasure to drive, powerful, a feeling of something special, confident that the car would be reliable, complete backup from company, helpful staff (loan of Sat Nav to get to hotel). However all of the above was captured just in my partners radiant smile for the whole weekend.
3) How long did you borrow the car for and did you take it anywhere in
particular? If so, did the car make the time more enjoyable?
A: Hired car for long weekend (3 days), Saturday to Monday. As stated previously part of romantic weekend in the Cotswold's, however the driving experience contributed to a most memorable weekend that will remain in our hearts forever. Even on a winters break when the sun did shine, driving with the roof down was the icing on the cake.
4) Would you hire another Mercedes out again in future? If so, which one and why?
A: If we had not seen the beautiful R107 500 SL for sale in the showroom which is now in our garage, then a big 'YES'. For both of us it would be the R107 every time. Have since recommended Classic Mercedes Hire to all our friends and family, not only for the wonderful quality of the package, the friendly and enthusiastic staff and value for money.
